Marta Pais Oliveira

Marta Pais Oliveira (Porto, 1990) published her first novel, Escavadoras, in 2021, which earned the 2020 Revelação Agustina Bessa-Luís literary award. She went on to publish the short stories O homem na rotunda e Quando Virmos o Mar. Her short story Medula was awarded the Nortear prize for literature from the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion.

 She has published poems as part of poetry collectives and she writes for several different publications. She wrote the libretto Maria Magola, which was performed at the 2021 Festival Informal de Ópera. She is a communications consultant and she is pursuing a PhD in Literary, Cultural and Interart Studies at the University of Porto. She believes in the power of words and she has two navels: one on herself and the other at umumbigo.wordpress.com.
